Now this is delightful!

I have many shots of the great crested grebe and I know how hard it is to get a decent one!

I awlays find that the whites of the birds breast and the side of the head seem to over exposed this is beacuse its the only true highlight surrounded by low key in this case water!

Good composition with the grebe on the far left!

Nice find and capture Fred. Your focus is sharp white balance handled well, but I find the water and reflective light to be a tad bright. I would suggest you run this Through a UV filter in edit to tone it down. Yes I know..you don't edit...but its just another step in growing in ones work. Or...learn Kelvin Scale/ ISO/ EV settings. Once you choose white balance you control the light and white balance. Also...center weight metering is best to control light on your subject.
Spot metering tends to make everything bright.

A nice shot of an old world bird! Your fine off-centre composition allows us an enjoyable view of its progress along some French waterway? Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely taken!

You captured the complicated pattern and intriguing breeding colors of this handsome bird well. I appreciate the realism of the colors. Although the reflections are interesting, the are busying the background. In my opinion a shallower dept would have been more attractive.

Oh I can hear the bird saying "well? What do you think? I just had it crested!" Yeah I live in a strange world..lol ..the clarity is great. The angle of the shot of this bird on the water is great. The capture of the light is great. The image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall
