What a perfect shot! Indeed, he looks like he's ready for battle: a spear, open mouth and those fantastic orange shoulder blades. Certainly one of my favorite birds (except for their noisy chatter). Wonderful background and specially since it's defused and green. Perfect balance and focus. I also like the way you have offset it all lightly to the right.

You have a way of catching these birds moods E. This little guy does indeed look like he's getting ready to attack. Love the color contrast

Great shot here Grace.This so reminds me of the military, especially in Afghanistan and some "other" places. We would each get emotionally prepared for a mission and while not getting like a crazed fanatic, we would essentially take on the mental image much like this Male Blackbird is showing.
That probably makes no sense yet this so reminds me of many things.

That's cool, and very imaginative! It does look like a spear, the way it is positioned. I love those colors, too. Great job capturing this shot, and thanks for sharing.

Grace, this is perfectly titled and such an awesome capture.
Only you have the ability to get these most unusual and incredible photos! This is brilliant! Those colors make me think of its suit of armor.
Inspiration for Marks drawings!
I love this!

an excellent capture and very appropiate notes: he really looks like holding a spear and screaming;
very sharp focus, accetable control of exposure for the black.

Now, that is something special. I'm sure you used a telephoto lens, but I'm still surprised he didn't fly away. I have never seen a bird like this. I guess they don't live where I do. The
dots of light and the white colored beak makes him look scary. Great capture!

Oh my goodness I love this! Great composition and storytelling in your description. I'm a Game of Thrones fan and thought of that right away....lol. Love the muted background...it really makes him stand out well.

Very cool look at this Red-winged Blackbird! I love pose and the way he's looking right at the camera. It's also great how he's showing the red on his wings.
