It is not often you a see a squirrel in this position, and it looks so sweet relaxing and posing on the top of a tree stump. The green softened background is perfect for the squirrel to stand out in an excellent way, and I also like how well the textures of the bark are brought out.
The photo is very sharp showing such clear and well defined details in the fur, and a fine high light is captured in the almond shaped eye. The exposure is perfect.
The way you have cropped the photo works well and the squirrel has got a very good placement within the frame. Indeed a sweet and well taken photo with a very good DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.
