Wonderful composition! Simply genius! Easy to understand and read. I especially like how you presented male and female avocado seeds. I see your id card in this one, too (a shell, small rock and sand). Bravo Victoria!!!

Great poster! It looks very ap-peel-ing. I really like the color palette. And the fact that it isn't too busy. I'm not deducting any points for this because it doesn't take away from the poster at all, but I would like to know what the avocados are holding. It looks like two uncut avocados are holding onto two sliced in half avocados that are smaller. I can't tell if those are supposed to be their children, their towels, etcetera.

Oh it is all very silly. Previous year's posters depicted all half avocado's because they look more edible I guess, so I combined the theme. Thank you very much for your kind review!

This poster indeed does what is expected. It informs the viewer of the dates of the event, the location and where to get more information about. It is humorous and appealing. I like the simplicity of composition. The colors are representative for California. The poster is well composed and framed. The composition is balanced.

What a fantastic poster for the festival. If I lived in the area this would definitely attract me to go. The design is so creative and original and aptly combines the avocado with the California life. It's graphic design shows off your great sense of artistry and humor. If I had a six left you would get one. My best wishes for the contest.

i used to design sales ads for companies i worked for..i was impressed that i showed it to my 2nd oldest daughter (she is a digital artist) she was impressed as well and then said "dad you know more rocks and seashells could be added to both left and right sides."..i replied "no! one thing in advertising you want to stick to the KIS rule(keep it simple..i left out the stupid part..lol) the font is clean and balanced in 4 points of the poster drawing the eye to follow from top to bottom. using the avocado in different forms helps paints a visual ad and assist in the initial impact on grabbing the viewers eye. so by placing only one stone and seashell on each side still translate beach without all the clutter. i like the blend of color balanced thru out the creation. the overall creation is balanced and very eye appealing to the viewer." what is funny i gave your review to her..to many years on FAR has me talking like it now..lolol..thought i would share that instead of just a standard review. creative and awesome work overall (clapping)

Mark I wrote you a long reply in appreciation of your delightful review, but somehow it vanished -- didn't save. Thank you so much for the background, your input, and sharing your conversation with your daughter. Hi to her her! The concept of avos walking on the beach came from my friend who wrote and sang the song to my horse video. This poster did not win the contest (there were near a hundred entries I understand,) but was among the three final posters. Topaz said that the whole avos were not dark enough. She wanted me to darken them so she could submit it next year, but I felt that darkening the whole fruit was absurd advice on the part of the judges, so I am happy to settle for your great review instead -- means more anyway! Thanks so much, take care, Daphne

I found this rendition very appealing and light hearted. In fact, it put a smile on my face. I am assuming it is your poster and that it was selected to represent the festival. The art work is very well done. The colors are attractive and appealing. Good luck in the contest.

Hi Dickson, no, not cropped... Funny remark a man made, he said he was glad the avocados felt free to show their inner selves, lol! Iam right now working overtime on republishing a book; interestingly the actual work is being done in the Philippines. My investigation in getting your work done seemed like it would work out better if I got my own color printer, but then my cat needs emergency dental work so the money I was saving toward the printer went to that just now. I am trying, but don't stop looking for other people who might not have so many issues if you can.... If not, your project is always there in my mind. I am hopeful that something mat come of my book, but this may not materialize for several months. Supposedly the publisher is very excited about it and skilled at marketing so we will see... It is my horse book... Daphne Oberon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_zrqXAxO2o&t=35s

This is a very professional poster Daphne! I grew up in CA I remember my parents taking us to Carpinteria to visit their friends. Never did attend the festival though. Enjoy the festival and the avocados!

Hi Dave, did you receive my answer to your very kind review? At this end the page is unresponsive -- or appears to be, Daphne Oberon

Hi Daphne, I received this reply and your generous reviewing nomination. If there was another reply, it didn't go through.

Yes there was a much longer one before these two. Only when I closed the site out and reopened it did it seem to function normally again, so in the meantime I lost the post. Okay, I think I said that praise from you was high praise indeed. Also, I passed on a funny comment by a gentleman who saw the printed poster, who said that he was glad the avocados felt free t reveal their inner selves, lol... Anyway, I'm glad you liked the composition! Thanks again, Daphne Oberon

Superb digital artwork Daphne! Definitely your style of art, love that fun idea and the way you have created this, I just love those two avocado characters holding that parasol and that sun has the same avocado center, This shold be made into a poster for them!
