I didn't realize that the"blue" is quite similar to a Lapis Lazuli blue,which you have captured above his eye,his plume;and,too,even on his beak.The muted forest green background shows him off,beautifully.

Thank you for your nice comments Joanna, I appreciate it. I think his blue might be just a little darker, not quite as bright as the lapis lazuli. The lazurite is such a gorgeous shade :)

I wasn't trying to correct you, I was saying that I think the blue on the heron may not be as bright as the vibrancy of the Lapis. Your earrings sound divine :)

This is Fantastic. It's a close up pose I know well and enjoy getting as close as they allow my lens to get.
Your focus is Razor sharp, white balance is controlled Beautifully and the DOF is dreamy creamy Sa-wa-eeeeet!
It's one of your best Blues to date. The eye clarity the Downy feathers, the mating plume...all crisp and shown so well.
Outstanding bird Photography Greenie!
