Excellent capture, Pat, showing this beautiful Swan in the long grass at the edge of the lake. I like how the grass looks feathery, blown by the wind. Very good lighting and focus showing a nice crisp image. Great composition. Suzanne

Thanks so much Fred! I was surprised at how large these swans are, they are much larger then the Canada Geese!

Handsome burnished brown above his ebony beak and black gem of an eye.His dusky grayish white body amid the grasses, with his head suspended above the blue lake is well done.

Joanna

Looks like a nice place for a swan to hang out :) The grass looks taller than the swan in places. You captured clear detail of his face and the colors of the swan stand out nicely.

A fine shot of the swan near the lake! You have framed it well. The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!

Pat,
A beautiful picture of this Trumpeter Swan watching you from it's place in the long grass waving in the breeze, the sunlight hilighting it's beautiful plumage & dancing off the water's of Chitna lake on which the blue sky is reflected. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

A refreshing wildlife capture with sharply focused facial details & soft plumage textures.
Verdant overtone backdrop pops out dainty subject nicely.
Natural colors and subdued illumination.
Good perspective & long depth of field...

I like the way it's white plumage stands out against the long and soft looking grasses. They have such a regal look about them with the way they hold their heads. The light reflections on the choppy lake water add another nice texture to the scene.

The Swan is well focused, I appreciate especially That the white areas of its plumage are not blown out. All colors are nicely natural. The photo is focused and details are crisp throughout. You need to correct your title. It says China instead Chitna Lake.
