another beautiful work. You are a very gentle painter, painstaking to get it correct, patient with detail, and it works. I adore sunflowers, they remind me of 'some place I think of as home'. The leaves in this are divine. Do you embroider? Some of this patience is the same as in needed for embroidery. We embroider a lot. My children don't appreciate any of it. They buy new.

Thank you. I used to embroider my own designs. I do not anymore as this young generation does not appreciate the old arts.

I guessed so, I had to embroider, as all girls are taught in our culture - and to knit and sew, from when I was a young girl and recognised the stitch-paint technique. Lovely.

The colors are in good harmony. I like how the background changes from light to dark. This indicates how the light changes toward the ground. I also like that you painted the sunflowers in different stages of development, from bud to wilting flower.

I feel like I learned a bunch of new stuff just reading the description of your painting XD. It's absolutely beautiful. I'm assuming you used violet for the lower background because it's the complementary color for yellow and it absolutely works. The upper background is faded enough too that you don't have trouble distinguishing it from the yellow of the sunflowers even though the sunflowers are light. My one critique is that the color of the lower half of the big leaf in the middle left is a bit neon in comparison to the rest of the painting, but it honestly kinda goes with the vivid violets in the lower half. This is amazing and you are amazing :)

Thank you so very, very much for this fine review. The six stars made my day! I did use violet with a touch of ultramarine blue. I used a very, very pale yellow wash for the sunn6 background so that it would not detract from the yellow of the flowers. I left the one leaf a brighter careen because of the reflected yellow of the big sunflower.

Congratulations, Linda. This water color is beautiful. My husband is going to get me water color paper this morning so I can try my hand at water colors again. I have been trying to pain on drawing painting the last couple of days and it's not working well. LOL You colors and detail are wonderful. I even did a little Koi drawing and water colored on the driveway that one turned out ok.

Linda, I would love to commiserate together, but I think my challenges will more of a one way street. You look like you know, what way your going. LOL Now that I have the right paper I am going to try something easy today. I have viewed a couple of things on you tube. But I am jumping over basics and I need that first.

A lovely artwork of sun flowers also one of my favourites. The arrangement is very attractive. The blooms are beautifully coloured and the leaves are so finely defined they add texture and depth. It's a lovely piece.
