While I feel this is unusual its not what I call a journalistic photo,which if you look at any newspaper you can see what that represents when it comes to journalism although it can cover a vast amount of different things,to me this should have been in a flower contest not this one,i feel although its a good flower shot,its a cop out for a journalistic photo...Brian

Journalism is a form of writing that tells people about things that really happened, but that they might not have known about already. So I disagree with you, but thanks anyway.

thanks for replying,and we will agree to disagree,my thought was that there are so many flower shots on here and contests on that theme,am trying to get people to think beyond that concept.

I have never seen a Poppy with double seed pods either, so this is pretty special. I also think the color of this flower is especially lovely, and with the softened background it is standing out in an excellent way.
Your focus is spot on and sharp showing such clear and well defined details both in the pods and the petals, and the exposure is very good.
The square format you have cropped the photo into works well, and the Poppy has got a fine placement within the frame. A lovely and well taken photo with a good DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

I have never seen a Poppy with double seed pods either, so this is pretty special. I also think the color of this flower is especially lovely, and with the softened background it is standing out in an excellent way.

I had a tulip this past spring with double stamens , this is beautiful, it's so interesting to see this poppy with the twin seed pods, this is well focused, the image is sharp and clear, exposure is perfect, the colors of both the petals and seed pods appear natural. Well composed with a nice slightly out of center placement in the frame. Well presented! Best wishes to you in the contest!
