Nicely done Linda. The surface allows your colors to flow more. This young child running up the beach exudes fun and adventure. Good colors. Love the reflection in the water. Well seen.

Great entry for the contest, Linda - it does personify summer with the little boy running along in the shallow water and the sunshine creating lovely reflections. Great use of colour with your watercolours - I usually use a rough paper and only use the smooth hot press for flowers but you've shown that it's great for landscapes and seascapes, too. Excellent use of colour, light and shade. Best of luck in the contest. Suzanne

You have chosen a scene from our daily lives and painted it so beautifully in watercolours. I love the gentle washes which is a hallmark of a watercolour painting. A fine entry for the contest. Good luck!

Thank you so very much for your fine review. Have you ever used the 300 lb thank you so very much for your fine review!paper?

More often than not, I use 300 gsm thick paper. It takes a lot of beating :):) I use handmade recycled paper where texture is required. Surprisingly they are more expensive than other machine made papers. But worth trying! Happy painting.

I love this Linda. A wonderful entry for this contest. Composition is so good with the soft reflection added. The colours you have used on the child stand out against the pastel background. It looks so natural with the child running from behind. A pleasure to view.

A well rendered watercolor creation with fine fluid strokes!
An interesting initial impact.
This is the best way to present a human subject if you have no time to meticulously etch the symmetrical bilateral face...;-))

Nice subject placement in the frame.
Harmonious colors.
An impressive artwork rendition. Colorful creation with excellent features & textures. Good compositional style. Great overall impact!

A winner in my book!
Thanks for sharing...

Beautifully done, Linda. I think the choice of paper and your technique worked marvelously in depicting the water and reflection. Plus the lovely simplicity of the scene is immensely appealing and does capture an essence of summer for a child. Love it! A great contest entry. Best of luck.

This is completely awesome Linda! I love the beach ! I'm impressed as I study this young boy running on the wet sand along the shore, he wears a pair of summer shorts in a multicolored pattern with a blue shirt, and a hat that keeps the sun from his face, he is well drawn with realistic shape and structure well proportioned , his shadow on the wet sand is what really makes this one special , I love his placement in this scene and just some reflections ahead of him on the beach, I love the colors and tones you have applied here ! Well presented! Best wishes to you in this contest!

I think this is a great Summertime entry! I'm amazed at the amount of detail you were able to create in the clothing and skin tones of the child using watercolors. Your work on the reflections is outstanding :) Sorry I don't have any sixes left, this one deserves a higher rating!

Linda, congrats on your recent contest wins! I like this one a lot too - you may just have another winner here! I like that everything is just a reflection except the boy, this is a very creative idea. And, you did an excellent job on all those reflections. Beautiful work!
