Great capture, Susan, showing this cheeky Blackbird picking off the riper Blueberries in your garden. He looks quite affronted at you disturbing him! Very good lighting and focus. Excellent composition. Suzanne

This made me smile Susan not only the way that the female blackbird is looking and posing but the title as well!
Typical blackbird behavior and you were lucky to get this lovely photo they usally fly off and let you know in no certain terms what they think of you if disturbed!

Adrian,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on the thieving Blackbird....taken through the open Patio door. I think even if I netted the bush I'd be lucky to get one pound of berries. I enjoy watching the Blackbirds & Sparrows raiding the fruit, that is always available in M & S or my local Green Grocer.
With my old camera the bird would have been a blur behind the leaves! My garden is almost always full of birds in flight or snging in the trees & bushes..

Your ability to capture the blackbird head on really makes the shot. Management of the lighting and the separation of colors is well done. Cropping and placement of the bird in the center of the frame works well,

Charlie,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this female Blackbird pecking off the ripening Blueberries one by one...if she'd not flapped her wings I might not have seen her.

A pretty good nature shot posted here. Your fine and central composition gives us a reasonable look at your blackbird and its location. Exposure and sharpness are OK. Nicely done!

Nik,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this theiving Blackbird . Short of building a cage over the fruit bushes I can't prevent the Blackbirds & Pigeons stripping the fruit off the bushes one berry at s time.

We have the same problem!

the blueberries I see are rather greenberries; lol; still very unripe;
I would not let birds eating one of my prefered fruits;
a good capture;
