A very good nature shot posted here of a very handsome looking bird! He looks very handsome, proud and confident striding on top of those lovely big leaves. Sharpness and exposure are good. Nicely done!

When I first looked at this photo, I thought, roadrunners don't run on water. Then I read your commentary. This is an amazing picture. So much filling the space. The best thing is the positioning of the heron. As if he is running across the shot.

Amusing capture and an apt reference!
Perfect timing!
A well-timed still action shot!
Was he afraid?!?
Sharply focused. Fine features & smooth textures. Subdued illumination. Nice subject placement in the frame.

Verdant overtone!
Nice perspective & narrow DOF.

Thanks for sharing...

Thank you! He was just moving from lily pad to lily pad hunting the waters for food.

HaHa...I can see what you're saying. He is definitely aware of your presence. You gave him a mohawk! :) Really cool shot. Love that you captured him with his foot just about to land on the lily pad. A lot of personality in this one. I think I might try desaturating the color in the lily pads some so that the Heron pops out more. But...I'm not sure. Just a thought. Very nice!

That used to be one of my favorite cartoons, the Coyote and the Road Runner lol. This Heron does resemble him a little. Looks like he's taking some long strides in his steps. Great clarity, lighting and angle of view. Nice shot.

He does, especially with that raised head feathers. This really captures how long those yellow talons are. It is always amazing to me to see how they can walk on top of the spatterdock and water lily pads. A terrific shot!

He seems to move fast. His pose and movement indeed look similar to a Roadrunner. Even the its wide step and how the feathers stand up on its head remind of Roadrunners. The photo is sharp throughout. The Roadrunner is in perfect focus and stand well out from the aquatic plants. The colors are realistic and energizing for the emotions of the viewer. Since the bird is walking to the right its placement in the left side of the photo is excellent.

Hi Grace!
That's a fine looking picture,my friend!
I was thinking of a different kind of 'Road Runner' when I read the title ( the type of high performance automobile that Plymouth produced many decades ago! ) but this one is lotsa' fun to see too! : D
