While the story is sad, the image is pure and endearing. Thank you for capturing this.
Life's precious, and when we have a story of a life once lived, it's most heartbreaking to recount them.
But with a great shot of their happy moments, we can relive the past in bliss, and you've given us this opportunity.
Thank you for sharing.
Keep it coming.

Fred,
That is a sad story but sadly part of nature... Beautiful picture of the little fluffy ducklings all but one asleep as they float on the lake. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus. I hope the Grey Heron kills the Pike!

Ophhhh what a pity - a very short life the question is how can this species survive when 100% get eaten?
Excellent capture, now a memory shot, well framed , super clear and sharp - I love the reflection giving this image depth of field -
stunning that they look all into the same direction which create great harmony in this picture , well done

Oh fudge! They were so cute. And to be eaten by a fish is incredible and seems somewhat harsh as nature can often be. I think they are adorable floating along sleeping while one keeps an eye open.
