This is indeed an extraordinary plant, and the spiral like dead leaf has the most fantastic colors. I like the bluish hues on the leaf in the background as well. The whole photo has indeed an abstract look to it.

Since this is an abstract it doesn't matter if the photo isn't pin sharp either, because then we are looking for other qualities, like lines and shapes. It is very good light in the picture.

The tight cropping works so well, and I think it is a very good balance in the composition. Indeed an original and well taken photo, and I wish you luck with the contest.
