This guys does have brilliant colors that are well exposed. The light is just right and you captured excellent detail of the face and the eye. Congratulations on winning this contest. I can see it was well deserved.

It is indeed a Rainbow Lorikeet. You have superb eye clarity and a fine lean in pose from these sweet noisy but curious and friendly birds.
Fine focus and exposure with nice placement within the frame.
I would only suggest you trace the background out and tone down the yellow and brightness a tad.

This Lorikeet is indeed colorful, so this must a perfect entry into a contest like this. You have pictured this lovely bird so well, and I also like a lot the light green hues of the background. When nicely softened like this, the bird is standing out in an excellent way.
The focus on the head is sharp and spot on and it is clear and well defined details to be seen. The exposure is perfect.
The format and framing is very good and the bird has got a very good placement within the frame. Indeed a lovely and well taken photo with an excellent DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.
