I like it. I have to admire that you push yourself and your skills to improve. You never know when you will find a method or genre you happen to be good at. When I read how you did your painting the first thing I thought was you were making a quilt with paint. Cool!

I never thought of it as a quilt but it could be used as a pattern. Thank you so much.

This is an interesting experimental piece. I admit that I am not in favor of the coloring style, but the planes of the body are indeed well studied. The proportions of the face are exact. The composition is balanced. The girl is well placed into the frame. The coloring style of face and background reminds me of early trends of abstract art.

Thank you so much Cleo. I still do not like this piece. It is too far out of my comfort zone. I am going to try it again but not use such vivid colors and try not to make the planes quite so geometric.

You're very welcome. I think its a good idea to smooth out the planes and soften the color. I think it would look better. :o)

Wow Linda! This is one of those images where people will either love it or hate it. I love the abstract design, and the use of bold colors, and I think you captured the form of the human face very well. On the other hand, I don't think I would like to see that face in person! Good luck in the contest.

Lol. Nor would I. I am still not real fond of this image. It was really way out of m6 comfort zone. Perhaps it will grow on me. Thank you for such a kind review.

WOW I can tell you that this one would have been by far the winner of the color contest , Stunning idea and composition , excellent portrait from a different kind - she is recognizable and the way you applied the color in her face is just artistically excellent - even her position looking back over her shoulder is something different in a portrait presentation - awesome detail work - well done Linda

Very interesting approach to a human form image. You have used the medium well. You have also made a statement about how complex we all are. That the face may be our visual image but it hides many plains and levels of our real self. Good co;or and good basic image.

I think you made a really good job of 'stretching yourself' as you say. I like your use of colour, and the flattening out of shapes. I think as you progress, you'll find many more planes to work with in the face which will add to the visual story. Nice!

it looks great and sometimes a weakness can be a strength. this style of yours is really dynamic and super in both imagination and the execution of an idea. this girl next door is lovely and very nicely presented..
