Beautiful photography and editing work to make this a stunning art piece indeed. I like the light and details and how you put us up close and on that leaf with this gorgeous Monarch butterfly.
Your beautiful soft background with the Rhododendrons bloom adds interest and your softness accentuating your subject. Nice also is the softness used in the foreground. I enjoyed reading your artists notes and like the storytelling with your image. Outstanding work and thanks for sharing.

Wow Nancy this is a real beauty of a butterfly image!
The detail on the wings and the colours of it are superb! even the greens of the leave are a great attraction as well. One negative side for me is that light vignette around it in the three corners do you really need it? I would like to see the same image without it for another posting and compare the two but thats only ny person view!

Hi Adrian, It wasn't really a vignette, though I can see why you think so. I used Gaussian blur for the background because there was to much going on and I wanted to blur it out. I softened the edges of the flowers I added to the image and the bottom of the leaf the butterfly was on. I may have gotten a bit carried away but I liked the way it looked. Please feel free to comment on anything you disagree with. I'm always trying to improve and get better. I may not agree with how you feel but I like knowing what others think. Glad you liked the touches I did on the butterfly! Thanks for your comments and great review! :o) Nancy

Ahh I see yes it does look like a vignette but now that you have said about the blur thats evident now! I like what you said about getting carried away a little bit I think that we are all guilty of that! But thats the way we learn especially with any art form so work so dont your ideas maybe different from mine but if we all did the same thing we wouldn't advance would we!! Keep experimenting with your art Nancy!!

This is a wonderful mixed media presentation! You have framed it well. The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!

A very nice nature image posted here! Your full and central composition offers us a very enjoyable look at both the butterfly and the leaf. Detail, colours and tones are wonderful. All your hard work has clearly paid off here!

This looks neat! I love the detail of the butterfly. I would have rather the background look natural, without the blur and soft edges. I love the look of the butterfly. How did you make the wings look like it does? I am just giving you my opinion, for what it is worth.

Hi Willie, I did a little embossing, a little painting and made the image BW. You do the the BW and made a negative of it. I make the negative 50% transparent and then give it a slight slide over the BW, it gives you a nice embossing look. I then have to get the color back so I overlay the original color shot and give it a 70% transparency. Save it! And slowly work to get the color back. I'm sure that's more than you wanted to know! LOL It takes a while but soon I get the color back and have a 3D look as well. Thanks for asking about the butterfly and for the wonderful review. :o) Nancy

WOW! You really put some time in it. Sounds like a lot of work but I guess it is worth it for a great image. Keep it up as that is the only way to learn!

Strong visual impact, beautiful work of art , I love the soft dreamy background , it gives a magical quality, the butterfly is well placed in the frame on the green leaf and I appreciate its shadow too, the pretty pink and white blossoms are well placed and beautiful to see, butterfly has a glow about it, it's colors and tones stand out beautifully. This is well presented and was a pleasure to view!

Cool,Nancy!
Monarchs and Viceroys are classically attractive butterflies, aren't they?
Your mixed media photographic presentation of this handsome specimen ( which has a pleasant 'Almost Dreamy' type of a look to it! ) is great fun to view,my friend!

Darn...you have to endure another SIX!!! I love this so much! What beauty you have captured,...and what skill you exhibit in creating the finished piece! You removed the butterfly and put him back? I'm floored. It is just gorgeous and I feel too simple compared to your amazing talents to even try to say anything more! Brava, Helvi!
