We have Many different species of date palms planted in droves throughout South Florida simply for their beauty. Unfortunately so many do not know how to care for them properly and the leaves turn brown. Date Palms like to be watered from the trunk only, but people here use water sprinklers and get the leaves wet. Anytime I see one, I don't Photograph it because they look awful.
Nice Silhouette of these tall palms with a gorgeous twilight glow of color.
Nice capture Fred.

thanks so much Sandra for your nice comments;
I see date palms very often when I travel to Morocco; they require very different growth condition from coconut palms and not at all suitable for Florida;
They require a wide temperature range, 5-10°C in the night but 30-45°C during the day and very dry conditions, except the few rainy days during winter; completely different from coconuts; I Wonder who had the idea to try to grow them in Florida?
I posted about 1 year ago a pic with date and coconut palms growing at the same location: it was in Dubai at a distance of 500 meters from the ocean with the nearby desert less than 1 km away;
They survive but none were bearing fruits;

We have plenty here as the weather is perfect for them. Until our dry season..
There are plenty specialty farms here who grow them. They are so pretty and those towns with money choose them.
They can grow here if the one taking care of them understands how to properly.
Most things in Florida don't belong!
Iguanas, Lizards, Snakes.. people!
So many things found its way here.
;)

This caught my eye immediately. I love this composition,the larger palms in the foreground, the way they are grouped, breaking up the space perfectly. The bands of color, kind of ombre, are beautiful. It's really very striking, good job!

Cyber six for this one Fred! This is out of this world gorgeous! It's a beautiful lavender sky above the warm gold/ orange tones, the land and palm trees beautifully silhouetted against it. This is of course, well focused, it's crystal clear and your light management is perfect! This is very well composed and presented!

Handsome capture - excellent view point - very interesting in angle and perspective - from huge to small you found the perfect frame to fill it nicely with trees in the background
A very harmonious and well balanced picture - creating calm and serenity
perfect sharpness contrast and lighting - a very impressive wall paper shot - high quality in any aspect , could imagine having this on a wall in a home

Terrific image of some beautiful palm trees that are wonderfully captured in silhouette form. The distant sunset and blueish looking sky offers a great view to look at. I can definitely right about now see myself some where relaxing in a place that surrounded by palm trees and water. Great photo taken. Thanks for sharing

I love these! The sky is beautiful and the patterns made by the silouttes of the palm trees fading into the distance. I like the details, including those "topless" trees that are lacking fronds.

This is an interesting view. The photo is well focused and has good depth. The silhouettes show well refined detail and look attractive on the hazy background. I like the palm trees are spread across the photo. The sunrise colors are pleasant and realistic.
The group of four palms of different size is especially interesting and nicely placed into the frame. The photo is well composed and balanced.

Great image Fred and this is just an awesome view of the silhouetted palm trees. Something we see in Florida everyday... but this view is tremendous.

thanks a lot Eileen;
the only difference: these are date palms, not growing in Fla.
the leaves are silvery, more beautiful than coconut palms;
-
they look gorgeous... Our coconut palms have nothing on these Fred :)

Great sunrise, it makes me want to get out my paints and brushes and go to it, what a great group of palm trees to choose from. Nature is such an artist.
