A lovely photo of this Blue Jay. Your focus and clarity are spot on showing the details in his feathers well. The stem next to him is a bit distracting though. Good luck in the competition

I am learning so much about birds! So blue jays are bullies, huh? they sure are beautiful though. I love being able to see the markings and I think it's somewhat comical one birds have feathers that go back on top of their heads that look a little bit like a toupee. I also like how the blue that is near the black mark on the side of his neck is just a very faint blue. And, it's cool that you can see he has seeds in his mouth! All of the elements of a good photograph are definitely here!

The bird is especially well focused. The fine details of feathers and body sand even the seed in the beak are amazingly sharp. The photo has a good shallow depth. The colors of the background emphasize the Jay nicely. The portrait is well composed, balanced and framed.

Great photo for the contest. The focus is sharp with much detail in the feathers.
The colors are nicely rendered. The seed in the bill is an added bonus.

A superb jay portrait, Willie. I love the bold up front view and how well every nuance of feather color and detail are evident. So nicely framed with just enough muted branches in the background. Seamless post processing. An excellent contest entry. Best of luck!

I so seldom see blue jays in my town so it's a pleasure and delight to see yours up close. Very nice photo! The superb focus shows such good detail on the feathers, and I even see a seed in his mouth.

nice portrait of the bird, but the branch that looks like it is growing from his neck and over his head is a distraction
nice focus on the bird eye
thanks for sharing

A gorgeous close up of the Blue Jay! Superb eye clarity.....I like how well you captured the eye and catch light in his eye. Very well photographed in good lighting, sharp focus, and outstanding details and clarity in your image. Your play with light and shadows is perfect as well. Your diffused background compliments your work. A good entry into the contest and best wishes!
