Good for you. Stepping out from the ordinary to discover and actually see what is around you creates an adventure to share. That is a beautiful gate that likely most people never would have discovered without your photo. You might want to straighten the horizon for the contest. Good luck.

    thank you. I am not sure how to? I stood by the road side and just shot my mobile, but I did discover wonderful areas of Washington, and chatted to beggars, who do not look like beggars compared to ours, and went across to the Penticostal Church when the speeches were on- and the underground is something to marvel at, so shiny and clean. I did several sketches there.

    Renate. I don't know what, if any software you use for photo editing, but most have features to straighten the horizon under the crop feature or some have a category called "transform" which allow for vertical and horizontal straightening. Hope this helps you. Charlie

    oh I transfer it from the phone to the laptop by a simple method called bluetooth, one by one. Occassionally, they come out too grey, so I automatically alter the colour, and take off the edges if it is not on a straight level with the laptop editor!

    I understand. Well, hopefully the slight tilt won't hurt you in the competition. I like your photo. It creates a point of interest that most people never would have seen if not for your photo.

    where do you look for this horizon, the top of the gate? I was standing on the ground, but I will see if I can alter it somehow. Thank you.

    The top of the gate and the road run parallel to one another. If you straighten one, you'll straighten both.
