OK, this is obviously not a red-eyed vireo or a yellow-bellied flycatcher so I guess I will write about the 'Great Blue' ;) Very nice shot, clearly focused, and he seems to have his eye on something in the water.

I'm with you regarding the head plumes! I'm actually pretty fond of the others that line the neck as well. It is a great side view, close up. This bird looks very contemplative. He looks like a wiser, older one of his species. The green sparkling water in the background looks fantastic. I also like the two little peekaboo holes that are made by the neck.

Superb angle, catching the expressive eye. Prominence of clarity of soft textures of the feathers, as well as the various colors. Great compliance to the rule of third, and I like the framing wherein you've provided space for your subject to breath and move. A refreshing sight !

Heron, sharp focus on the lovely plumage and face, nice eye capture, the head plume blowing
