OK, this is obviously not a red-eyed vireo or a yellow-bellied flycatcher so I guess I will write about the 'Great Blue' ;) Very nice shot, clearly focused, and he seems to have his eye on something in the water.

I'm with you regarding the head plumes! I'm actually pretty fond of the others that line the neck as well. It is a great side view, close up. This bird looks very contemplative. He looks like a wiser, older one of his species. The green sparkling water in the background looks fantastic. I also like the two little peekaboo holes that are made by the neck.

Superb angle, catching the expressive eye. Prominence of clarity of soft textures of the feathers, as well as the various colors. Great compliance to the rule of third, and I like the framing wherein you've provided space for your subject to breath and move. A refreshing sight !

The highest raiting for this wonderful close-up portrait of a heron! I think this is perfect, including the composition and depth, colors and tones. Balanced with light and shadow, perfect sharpness, a lot of texture. Professionally taken and presented! Leaves a long lasting impression in my mind. This image is inspiring and positive! Right point of view! The black feather brush on the back of his head is very cool!!! Great effort Grace!

Great view of this guy intently looking for his next meal. You can really feel it. The focus is great as is the lighting. I would like to see a little more of him but that's just me.

Thank you! I have posted many herons in full body but now and then I like a tighter crop for the face :)

Good capture of this great blue
Heron, sharp focus on the lovely plumage and face, nice eye capture, the head plume blowing
In the breeze adds interest, I like the heron against the bokah on the water. Well framed and presented. Nice work.
