I hope it is the contest winner; difficul to imagine a better and more impressive capture; I've never seen more than 3 butterflies together;
outstanding sharp details;

    Thanks so very much for the great review and comments;the only time I have seen more that a couple together is when I have released monarchs I have raised,these are all free-flying ones and were a real thrill to see roosting!

A very beautiful picture of this Roost of Monarch butterflies stocking up on nourishment before heading south for the coming winter. Their beautifully coloured & patterned wings stand out clearly from the green foliage that frames them. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

A very good entry into the competition posted here! Not sure that I have ever seen so many butterflies in one place before!! Your fine composition offers us a great view of them. Exposure and sharpness are good. Well done and good luck!

How very cool!! It's a butterfly tree :) I would liked to have seen this in person. You did a great job exposing the colors and getting nice detail of the butterflies.

Thank you for entering the contest I sponsored. What an entry! I'm dying to know where you shot this picture. Mexico? Your photo is mesmerizing and is one of the most unusual sights I have ever seen on this website.

To see so many Monarchs roosting together is indeed an impressive sight. The photo is well focused and exposed. The butterflies are sharp and the colors are realistic. The photo is well composed and framed. The composition is balanced.

A remarkable scene. I have seen large groups of monarchs clinging to the trees in Mexico where they migrate but not up north. A beautiful shot that is shown in fine detail and great color.

OMG! What a sight ! Great looking shot of the monarchs feasting on the sugar maple tree. The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good luck!
