Yes, this is an unusual view for a hummingbird photo, but as you say, it's a cute pose! The focus and lighting are good, and it's great that you captured the wings so sharply.

So cute! Great initial impact, it really holds the viewer's attention. I love that you caught his wings up, it makes the shot so much more interesting than just another bird perched on a branch. Great technical skills are evident, good placement of focal point, sharp imagery, spectacular light and color and visually quite pleasing.

I, for one, are very happy that you decided to post this as it is a perspective I have not seen from the rare hummingbird that shows up here. The stop action is well showing good definition throughout the hummingbird. Thanks for sharing

Thank you Charlie! I thought the unusual pose was so cute :) I've not seen them from the front while fluffing up before now.

Wish I had a 6 star left - this is so cute and so accurate in details - I love the close up and the wing position - your reaction is just awesome to get these birds in out of the box positions
super clear and sharp , excellent contrast and lighting , perfect DOF and framing
Excellent view point and a great initial impression

I never would've thought this was a hummingbird if I didn't read your notes. Probably because of the view. Nice clarity, composition and lighting. Well framed with sharp focus. Thanks for sharing

Interesting shot with just a touch of humor. Without your notes I would not have recognized it as a hummer - don't know if that is good or bad. Good focus and interesting "pose." Nice details and background. good color.

What a wonderful capture with wings out stretched ready to fly and yes almost looking like a little dancer.
He is a cute little hummingbird all puffed up. Great lighting, clarity and focus. Well done!

This is the fattest hummingbird I have ever seen and his pose is adorable. I don't know how close you were, but the distance and pose were ideal, and fairly unusual that you could stop the action in his rapidly moving wings. Great job!

Thank you :) Her puffy feathers made her look a lot bigger than she really was!

this is such a cute phot of this little hummer, how wonderful that you were able to capture this little fluff ball with raised wings, not an image you normally see where hummers are concerned, that's what makes it so special. great focus, love this little toes, the diffused background colors really sets it off beautifully. An adaptable image, thanks so much for sharing!
