I really like this Brenda! The variety of color in the bricks, the shading in the arched entryway, and the sense of depth are all outstanding. I also enjoyed the notes. I'm sure the original painting has much more detail than we can see here, but the camera focus is a little soft. Perhaps you could try and take a sharper photo? Regardless, it is very nice work.

Dave thank you so much for a good critique and that ranking. Greatly appreciated. You are right the original painting is sharper although i tried to convey the worn texture of the bricks. I am not a great photographer for ever learning to improve. However this painting is in Newcastle and i in Portugal and I had to use an old photo I had on my smartphone when i decided to post this
Your pointers and compliments much appreciated.

I lived in Germany a couple of decades ago where I went for practical training. Unfortunately I do not seem to have come across many historical places. Be that as it may your painting is well made and gives a good idea about the Gothic Construction.Good luck!

Thank you for reviewing as always appreciating your comments and time. Lùbeck was fortunate in that it did not receive irreversible damage in the wars. It is a fantastic city of medieval architecture, quaint winding streets and a harbour with tall ships. There are other towns similar nearby such as Wismar. I did a series of miniature paintings in the form if stamps of both places' landmarks.

How nice! I wish you would post those miniature paintings on this site. I am sure it will generate a lot of interest!:):)

I might just do that so look out as it costs to much to promote all the time

You painted a good likeness. I would have recognized the landmark without any name our comments. The colors are also realistic. The tall format is perfect It emphasizes the towers.
The panting is well composed and framed. Do you know that the Holstentor was part of the city wall several hundred years ago? It got famous around the world do to the German movies made after Thomas Mann's book of the same title.

Hi, that is so wonderful that you immediately recognised my landmark painting. yes I knew it had been part of the old city wall. I didnt know about the book and will look it up. Ich liebe Lübeck, es ist eine schöne Stadt. es ist mein Favorit. Die Straßen und Gebäude sind immer noch fantastisch und unberührt.

Danke, aber ich lerne immer noch sehr langsam 🤔
