I have seen them hold their bodies almost vertical but not quite like this one. It is a fine looking dragonfly which I think would look better on a different color background.

What a fabulous image Grace. I love these giants of the dragon fly world. I am always so impressed to see one. As a kid I caught several for my insect collection. They have such powerful wing muscles.

I am not sure what you mean by flipping the image. If you mean rotating by 90 or 180 degrees it worked well. Whatever you did it gives unique ballet look for this giant which is a position seldom seen.

This image has everything going for it. Sharp and clear with excellent color rendering. Background is great for accenting this giant. Maybe tone down the bright leaf in the upper right corner just a tad. Not a big thing and certainly not a stopper for my highest rating.

Well done and Kudos Grace ~ Steve

This leg-stand is dashing. The dragonfly looks like an artist on stage. I know its survival. The basket-legs are build for gripping, but how hold on to the branch looks graceful and attractive. The dragonfly is perfectly focused. The insect stands well out from the shallow background. The body shows refined detail. The photo has good exposure. The colors are realistic. The dragonfly is well placed left of center. The composition is balanced and well framed.

Your notes are very interesting and appreciated, this is a beautiful shot of this dragonfly, I like it's position and the way it is clinging to the stem. Well focused, nice clear image with good lighting, colors appear natural and I see good detail over this pretty dragonfly!

Your camera techniques really are on full display in this photo. The focus, detail and clarity are sharp. The white balance and lighting are well managed. The colors are natural and the background has been softened just enough. Hope I didn't forget anything.
