This painting should allay any fears you have about painting lips and noses. You have done them very well in this composition. It reminds me of my sister-in-law who I see in this same pose very frequently. You also have captured her in a pensive mood which says "Am I done, or does it still need some finishing touches?" Good luck in the contest.

Your shading on her face brings her to life. I think the nose and lips turned out nice and proportionally accurate. The paintbrush is a great element. I also really like the mixture of colors and brushstrokes used to create her hair.

This is a beautiful portrait. Very well sketched and painted. I always find painting portraits to be challenging. You did a great job especially with the hair. Everything looks fine with the details and color. Well done.

5.5 if I could. This is quite brilliant how you captured that expression. She has that poise and intense observation in her eyes which we are all familiar doing when we are observing our subjects. I like the form you took of head and shoulders and canvas leaving the rest open to imagination or in this case I feel less is more. Good choice of colours. Good practice result. I often get on You Tube to practice lips ( my biggest challenge) and eyes. Also I use magazine pictures to try and sketch people in them. For a while I also followed Old Masters Academy. They have good tips on anatomy and balancing bodies and faces.

Hi Linda, this is a beautiful lady artist, very well created with good facial shape and structure, her features are well suited to her face shape and proportionate, I like this side profile pose as she looks to her left while holding the paint brush in her mouth, her canvas is in front of her, she has beautiful long , golden brown hair, bangs are swept over to her left and the rest falls freely, to frame her face, her chin and jaw line are well shown and you show her neck well too. This is very well presented! It's a perfect entry for the contest! Best wishes to you in the contest!
