It does indeed. And he looks suitably sad but 'should I be interested' which you would expect from a puppy. Is it a female puppy? pink background. Entrancing.

You have indeed managed to bring out the cuteness of this
puppy, and I really like the delicate looking color pallet. To be Your first portrait of a dog, I think you have done an excellent job.

I like the simplicity of the composition, and also the light but accurate brush strokes. You have also paid very good attention to details.

The square format you have used is working well, and the puppy has got a very good placement on the paper. A truly lovely and well done painting Linda, and I wish you Luck With the contest.

Nice job making this little guy look so cute! I really like the droopy ears and how well you got the shape down. It's impressive how you managed to get that youthful appearance in his facial features. The background colors are attractive too.

The puppy looks very sweet. I like the simplicity of composition and the limitation of color. The painting is realistic. Perspective and proportions are exact. The shading is perfect. The light reflection in the eye is especially intriguing. The painting is well composed and framed.

For a first at a dog portrait you have done a beautiful job. You are right about the softness of watercolours to achieve the soft puppy look. The portrait is balanced .. i like the angle.. i like how you allowed the run on his right ear it gives a loose modern feel. The background and cour pallet fit the scene.

The watercolor was a good choice, Linda. It does add to a puppy look and with the those hound dog signature floppy ears. Beautiful work on the rendering with nice detail and color tones. Best of luck in the contest.
