A well-timed still action capture!
Perfect timing!
Yes, they seem building a nest with the male passing a twig to his partner.
Gorgeous natural colors.
Dappled illumination.
Dynamic diagonal framing.
Do these birds go to the sea to hunt for food?
Is that tree called bottle brush?
Verdant overtone!
Nice perspective & narrow DOF.
Thanks for sharing...

Thank you so much Dick! Your wonderful review and six star rating mean a lot to me! I don't know where they go to hunt food but this is near the ocean so they might go there. I don't know what type of tree this is.

What a very sweet capture! A glimpse into one of the many wonders of nature. I like it :) Your timing was great to get them both holding the stick and passing it from one to the other. Your exposure is nice. You handled the light very well.

I like the storytelling with your photography and the interaction between the Tri-colored Heron's as they build a nest. Very well photographed in good lighting, sharp focus, and outstanding details and clarity in your image. Beautiful lush greenery as your background and I like seeing their habitat. Outstanding work and thanks for sharing.

Are they winning the race?
Good capture of the birds, just pity they are a bit lost on the bright and busy background
thanks for sharing

A nice shot of these two herons, a bit lost in the foliage but that's only to be expected.
I suspect they were building a nest ... or maybe just playing pass the stick to pass the time.
