This is indeed an unconventional portrait Aimee, and I would say that it is more a portrait of this colorful pigeon than you father in Law. The bird is truly lovely and it looks like Your father in Law is a handsome man as well.

The photo is Sharp showing Clear and well defined details in the bird, and I like the light and neutral background, The exposure is very good.

The tight cropping Works well, and the bird has got a fine placement within the frame. It is however a pity we don't see more of Your papa. Still I think this is an original and well taken photo, and I wish you Luck With the contest.

This is so adorable! I like that you captured the glee in your papa's eye with a hint of the smile. The bird is just gorgeous. The colors of his feathers are so pretty and well captured. The clarity is nice and sharp showing off the details nicely. Sounds and looks like this was a fun time.
