This bird's beauty is what struck me first -- what a striking shade of bright melon orange. Also what a sweet expression with those little masked eyes. I am so glad the species is not in any immediate danger -- I hope it stays that way. It is like flying Mexican Fire Opal... Great photo. A contest winner in my estimation...

The Red Fody is a very beautiful bird. Looks similar to a Vermilion Fly Catcher. Natural colors and tones in the scene. nice feather detail, good lighting, sharp focus, good DoF, and well balanced photo and nicely composed in the frame. Overall, a very Beautiful Wildlife Photograph, well done!

A very nice choice for this contest. I think whenever you get birds "staring right down the barrel" it gives them a comical look. This one is no exception. I might prefer a vertical cropping as the detritus on either side does not contribute much to the image.

It's dark eyes & beak contrasting with the scarlet head & breast that standing out clearly from the browns of the fallen leaves carpeting the ground.
