hm. need to check this, as I don't know it. So, the American Wigeon's diet has a higher proportion of plant matter than any other dabbling duck, hence it lives in Alaska I presume!At all times of year, American Wigeons can be found in freshwater wetlands, lakes, slow-moving rivers, impoundments, flooded fields, estuaries, bays, and marshes...and a storm wigeon?
Plumage males vary in the amount of barring along the sides of the head and in the extent of the eye stripe. Highly prized by hunters, the colloquially known "Storm Wigeon" is a natural American Wigeon variant with extensive white on the head, cheeks, and throat, instead of speckled gray..
It eats the seeds, stems, and leafy parts of aquatic plants. Its short, stubby bill helps it exert force on plants, making it easier to pull off stems and leaves. It also eats insects, mollusks, and crustaceans...
and after all that, it is very cute, good shot with good reflections in the water. Now I will bet you have a good camera to get such clear shots!

you are right: very cute Indeed; I think this female widgeon is just too tired and wants to sleep;
very nice array of chocolate brown colors; very sharp focus and details;

This is a cute capture of the bird! You have timed it well. The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!

Now that it very cute. The title that came to my mind immediately was "Aw Shucks". I really like the mood that your composition sends. All aspects of the photo are well done as always. Thanks for sharing as I needed some warmth. It's snowing here.

A very good looking duck. I don't often see them around my place so it is a treat to see this one. I love the pose and the beautiful colors of her plumage.
