I voted for this yesterday and now here I am to praise it.
This is clearly the winner taken with superb camera techs and use of light. I purchased a Lume Cube light to make night Photography more fun. Of course they now upgraded it to Lume Cube 2.0 which has better features and accessories! Grrr
Your focus is razor sharp, understanding of light superb, camera techs Perfect and use of your LED torch light makes this an incredible magical capture.
I know who you are behind the lens and I applaud your skill.
Well done! I hope this wins.
It's the best!

Thank you Sange. It's always the way, you buy something and then the mark 2 comes out. It's always much better and often cheaper. What really annoys me is that Amazon send you a message saying the mark 2 has arrived just after you purchased the mark 1 from them ... just to rub it in I'm sure.
You know who I am ? Oh well, ditch the stick on beard then (it itches like crazy anyway)
Thank you very much for the review, that six and of course for the vote.

There are no blind Contests here. No one can pull this shot off here but you.
That is fact. Far grows legends in their own minds and those legends still use auto settings.
Unfortunately the Crowd votes for their pals and not the best work.
So... It's clearly one of the best night shots I have seen in years here.
Ditch the beard and cane!
Take a bow! It's perfect!
-
I've noticed that too. Some of the results I've seen were either voted on by the blind or close friends. Annoying, I might give up on the whole contest thing altogether.
I can't remember the last time I used auto, I hate it. If I could buy a manual only camera with a decent sensor I would do so.
What cane ?
-
I associated beard with a cane too! Like my pts! ;)
Enter the cash ones... I don't enter member ones.
In order for things to change, we need honest critique in reviews.
But blown out shots get praised and bonus stars. Creating false skill by high praise is a formula for Rank does not equal skill.
So just keep growing in your work and don't get caught up in the high five club. I don't get many Reviews like I used to, because I don't give high praise for work that needs improvement.
Go to Facebook for that.
-
No I tend to be critical, some shots I just can't review and giving two stars when everyone else is giving fives (or sixes) ... well.
I just don't think honest critique is going to happen any time soon ... I belong to another site for that.

I think this is gorgeous. I have tried to do similar things that have not turned out as nice as this! The light painting looks good and the subject in front of your sky is interesting. I especially like the detail and colors you captured of the night sky. That sky is beautifully exposed.

Thank you so much Envision. The secret is patience and downright stubbornness. The first dozen or so results were abysmal but there is no 'menu' for light painting. Happily I got it more or less right before dawn came up.
-
I think the light painting is the easier part of this composition! Getting that color and detail in the sky takes some serious skills :) Could be that I just make it all complicated!
-
The sky is the easiest part, huge ISO, slow shutter speed. Then you have to match the torchlight, that is tricky.
Comment from Nature Rick
Quite a beautiful landscape photograph lit by torch light and the Milky Way over the structures. Natural colors and tones in the scene. Good lighting, nice detail, sharp focus, good DoF, and well balanced photo and nicely composed in the frame. Overall, a very Beautiful Landscape and Milky Way Photograph, well done!

a great entry to the night contest and a potential winner; a good idea to lighten the Church and nearby tree; excellent capture of the starry sky;

Such an ethereal image. What you have created has a beautiful contrast in how the sky above is infinity beyond us but we come from this. The church is man-made, a place to worship to praise the divine which is the sky above. Hope this makes sense LOL

Thanks seshadri. A clear starry night and guessing at exposure, then, matching it with torchlight. Ah memories :-)
