I think this is a very good entry into this contest Allan, and I especially like how well you have brought out the fine textures in the orange colored rocks. The man standing on the Cliff Fishing also add interest.

The photo is very Sharp and it is such Clear and well defined details to be seen in the rocks. The exposure is just spot on, and the colors look Nice and Natural.

The way you have cropped the photo is Perfect and it is a very fine Balance in the composition. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo Allan, and With an excellent DOF. I wish you Luck With the contest.

As a former fisherman turned photographer, this brings back memories of the vastness of the ocean and the mystery of what the catch of the day might be. The fisherman in the foreground anchors the shot and provides for excellent depth of field. The focus is sharp, The colors are natural. Overall, camera techniques are very good.

Thanks Charlie for your comments. That is correct, when you fish in the ocean you really never know what you might hook on to. It is exhilarating to feel the pounding of the surf, the wind and the wide open views, just love it.

Hi allanoak,

The fisherman certainly does add perspective to this image. Looks like he's fishing from quite a way from the cliff edge. The colours are stunning in this image. Thanks for sharing. R

A nicely taken shot and well seen as well. You're right the orange rocks do make an interesting focal point and lead the eye to the fisherman. My only criticism is that the light is a little flat and directionless so the shot lacks the impact that it deserves.

In this photo you have different elements all organic. From the sky blue clouds in the distance Horizon, the vastness of ocean and finally the structure of the organic rocks with the element of man. Many think nature
and humankind our separate when in all reality we ourselves are part of nature. I think you capture this in a very iconic, expressive and isolated way. The figure stands upon the top searching outward. Where does he search to? The vastness goes on forever. In a way you have Express our idea of being insignificant within the multitude of nature.

Hi Kurt, thanks for your review and of course your philosophy associated with this image. I was indeed interested in capturing how small man is compared to the vastness of nature. We need to be humble in the face of such magnificence.

This is a great sea photo contest image. I am really enjoying how man is so small against the vast ocean. There is great texture and dynamics to this scene within the rock formation. It is a very nice scene. I wish you the best in the contest!
Nice eye!

Thanks Monica for your"feel good" review of this image. I appreciate your comments a lot. I wanted to emphasis the vast ocean by having the fisherman appear in a prominent position (rule of thirds) Thanks again.

This is a wonderful seascape photograph. I love the contrast of the orange rock and the ocean. The solo fisherman and the seals add extra interest. Very nice photograph

Allan,
A beautiful picture of the lone Rod Fisherman standing looking out across the Pacific from the hump shaped rock with water running over the ledge like a waterfall. Further out to sea is a smaller rocky outcrop with Sea lions sunning themselves on top the Pacific reflecting the blue sky above. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

Thanks much Susan. I am glad your eyes explored the whole image, there is lots to see. I appreciate your feedback. What appears to be water running down the side of the rock is actually minerals that have
dissolved and precipitated again on the rock. Very interesting to see in person also.

Beautifully done, Alan. I really like the composition and how the large and smaller rock projections draw the viewer's line of sight into the scene and beyond. I think the fisherman adds a wonderful perspective to appreciate the size of the land mass. Excellent clarity and detail bring it all to life along with great lighting and natural colors. A superior photo. Best of luck in the contest.

Wow, thanks for such a high rating on this image. You have a wonderful eye to see the leading line of the rocks toward the horizon, that was my intent. The man gives a nice scale to the size of the rock outcrop. Thanks so much!!!
