This shot provides an excellent view of his unusual antlers. Poor guy. But he is a survivor and aptly named. The title is nice too. I like his cute little mouth and his ears :)

I guess I am going to have to spend more time cleaning my windows. Whenever I shoot through my windows I always end up deleting them all. A very nice shot that shows his unique rack very well.

Thanks,I was fortunate that he came close to the house,I actually had to stand on a step stool to avoid getting the deck railing in the way when I shot through the kitchen window!

I remember another shot of this impressive animal where its injured leg. This photo portrait looks even more impressive. His pose is interesting. His face expression is intriguing. The photo is excellent focused and exposed. It has good dept. The deer stands sharply out from the background. I appreciate the realism of light and color. The photo is well framed. The composition is balanced.

Thanks for a great review;he is interested in one of the does next to the deck that must be in heat and came close to the house, for which I am very grateful!

So sad that he is hurt - your picture is excellent and it seems you always have your camera around your neck so if something appears you are ready
well framed , excellent composition, super sharp, perfect in contrast, with genuine lighting
a beautiful portrait picture , thanks for sharing

Hi there. I have been looking at photos of lots of deer. Mainly whitetail deer. It is how I approach my paintings. Study hundreds to know the salient features and then create my own. Hi old is Vulcan? He looks kinda old. There must not be many predators for him to have survived so long with a bum leg. Nice capture and focus. Thank you for sharing

Many thanks;I am not sure how old he is,at the very least he is four years old. We first saw him three years ago,and he hadn?t lost part of his left hind leg yet,but it was very swollen above the hoof,so it most likely was infected, resulting in the loss of part of his leg. He already had his unique rack, and was definitely older than a yearling(one year old) by his size. The only predators we have are coyotes, and many of the hunters around here trap or hunt them with dogs to keep their numbers down.

A very good nature shot posted here! Your fine and traditional composition gives us a good luck at your unlucky Vulcan. Like his cheery eye gleam. Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely taken!

Thanks so very much;I forgot to tell you that the very end of the antler is also counted as a point,Vulcan has three points on the right hand side and 4 points on the left (the tine closest to the tip is a bit hard to see),so he is considered a 7 point buck. :)

Many thanks, never knew there was so much to know about antlers!

If it has antler, it must be SHADOW CATCHER's post!
;-)

A nicely captured stop motion shot!
Pin sharp focusing. Compact framing. Subtle lighting...
Natural setting.

Thanks for sharing...

Vulcan is a perfect name for him and he's still beautiful, he's strong and he is a survivor M well focused, this image is clear, exposure is managed well, colors and tones are natural. Well composed, he's looking right at you! Well presented!

Thanks very much! Saw him late this afternoon,he and Sixer were lying down just inside the woods behind the house, they were probably about four feet apart, just chewing their cuds.

Many thanks;he definitely has a unique rack,I was lucky he was interested in the doe next to the deck, otherwise he wouldn?t have come that close to the house,as it was, I had to stand on a step stool to avoid getting the deck railing in the photo when I shot out the kitchen window!
