I am amazed how you have these beautiful birds and here where I live we do not. They are found just 1 hour south of us but never here,,this is so perfect for a Christmas card, he actually looks so surprised that you are taking a photo of him

Lol, thank you very much! That is interesting that they live within an hour of you but don't go to your area. That makes me think of how it can rain on one side of the street while not raining on the other side :)

A striking flaming red plumage in great contrast against the immaculate white snow!
Candid capture with those Mohawk hair standing as if from too much coldness!
Narrow DOF.

Hi Grace!
That striking red plumage that the males of this species have must impart some special Evolutionary advantage to them!
That's a totally Outstanding picture of this one standing in the snow,my friend! : D

He is standing there so proud and beautiful , his red plumage just pops from the snowy background ! I like his crest and the way it stands up! I see snow flakes on his feathers and his beak is partially opened .
He is well focused, this image is clear, exposure is well managed , his color is gorgeous and appears natural. Well composed with a nice placement in frame and I like his pose with his head slightly turned allowing a good look at his face! Well presented!
