I think your shading and application of light as well as the facial features are very much in the style of Caravaggio, coupled with your unique style as well. You are very good at creating depth and dimension with your shading techniques. I like how you have him removing the crown of thorns. Very nice work!

Nicely done James. I think you have done a great job in capturing the style of Caravaggio. The colors are classic as are the facial features.

A nice tribute to Caravaggio using your own talent which improves with each work of art you do.

Nice work James ~ Steve

Powerful initial impact: this is a beautiful piece , Jesus removing the crown of thorns from his head, the cuts on his left wrist and right rib cage , well shaped arms and body with good definition, well chosen colors and tones, I like the expression in his eyes, his face is well shaped with good structure, facial features are well applied, good work to show his hair and the crown of thorns, your title is perfect, I like the way you express his resurrection in this piece! Well presented!

Great contrast with the background and the body. I like the pose that he has, holding up the crown of thorns as if he's removing it, victorious. This reminds me of something with a neoclassic feel to it. Was that what you're trying to go for? I always wanted to try this style of art. The ambiguity of where he is at right now gives the viewer a sense of timelessness, so that the important message of the painting is in fact the victory of the resurrection, which you aptly titled this work.

Wow! I think this is first time I am seeing a large size painting from you. This is an awesome work The body language, the minimum use of colours, the light and shadow makes this a compulsive viewing. Well done!

I like the narrative symbolism of the Resurrection being painted in a way not usually depicted. Having Christ removing the crown of thorns is a powerful image. His body has seemed to heal from all the wounds. Not sure if that is how you wanted the viewer see this.? I would like to see more definition in the form of the figure, especially the chest and torso. His right arm needs a little strengthening of foreshortening.

Hi Jesuel, is my interpretation of Christ removing the crown of thorns not what you intended to symbolize? I think it is very strong piece symbolically. It is with the human rendering I feel that needs to be anatomically strengthen, if you are trying to represent realism. Caravaggio was the master of chiaroscuro. If you are being inspired by him I think it might strengthen your piece to have the elements more defined. Hope this helps!
