I am not a photographer so I really can't speak to the technical aspect of this, but the subject is fantastic. It appears to be a big ole bird so I sure you are right about the take off. Good luck in the contest

Great capture of the action! I like how the wings are spread giving us a good look at the feathers, but they don't block the face. The sharpness is excellent throughout the photo. Great entry for the contest! Best of luck!

Great stop action photo catching this heron as it launches itself into flight. Crisp focus,excellent eye clarity,lovely blue background,very nicely composed and presented. I wish you all the best in the contest with this great image!

Nice stop action capture. The focus is sharp on the near wing with good color rendering. The position of the bird just ready for takeoff gives a nice sense of action and drama.
The bird is just a bit dark on the underside but not enough to interfere with this being a great entry for the contest. Best of the best in the contest ~ Steve

The pose of the bird looks slightly different to the previous photo. The photo is well focused and exposed. Details of plumage and body of the Heron are refined. The colors are realistic. The panorama framing is adequate. The composition is balanced.
