How good it must have felt for you to be able to capture with your camera very good pictorial representations of light and dark and shadows via these leaves. The dark background also renders the leaves an effective glow.

The light really makes this a bit magical and meaningful. Nice dark background. I like the clarity of thorns and lines. Well framed. A refreshing sight of the changing of the season.

as a painter, they remind me of my shadow man, when I am focusing on a particular thing. The way the sun caught the leaves bright colours under the dark is fantastic.

Nice one Pat. I always like the way almost anything is back lit as it brings out such subtle details and produces a grow that can be subtle or dramatic.
In this case it is a little of both. The reddish leaves on the left have a nice soft glow to them while the leaves on the right have a wonderful dynamic look which includes a contrasting dark shadow. Nice work Pat ~ Steve

Very nicely done Pat. I like the stained glass quality that the leaves take on against Darkness around them. Maybe just up in the right-hand corner part of a leaf. You captured morning life poignantly here.

Well this one also would deserve a 6* - your lighting strikes in this shot as it illuminates the perfect spots on the leaves - they look like lamps with own light
excellent composition, harmonious and well balanced picture - this would have been a winner shot of night shots

It's wonderful how different seasons have there own hidden beauty. It's late in the season and yet the sun can bring warmth to a dying leaf captured by your sharp eye. I like the way you used side lighting and not direct lighting to bring out the detail in the leaves. I also like the ray of sunshine sneaking thru the right hand side. The black back ground also helps brings out the sharp detail in the image. Super well done.
