Festive Fowl!

Portrait of a turkey.

Yes I do appreciate seeing such a clear photo of a festive fowl. This guy is most certainly a duck however, and looks like a Muskovy, which is native to the Americas, so not sure. It would be interesting to ask the farm owner. It is very understandable that you should confuse this red faced duck with a turkey!

I am very grateful for your nice review and that big 6!

I like the amount of detail in this image and how you can see everything, down to the smallest feathers on this turkey. The blurred background brings out the sharp and crisp image of the turkey even further, and makes me appreciate the intricate beauty that was created on this bird that we all appreciate, especially during Thanksgiving!

WOW what a special bird, a fantastic portrait picture - hyper clear and sharp into fine details, super DOF, contrast and lighting
I love to study this special face as his feathers are more looking like a warm hat loll
you got him in a nice position , conformable and calm. I love specially that he looks like smiling. hope he will not end on a plate
A good composition with special visual impact, well done

It's a fine sharp Portrait of a Muscovy Duck that some call a Turkey Duck. But this is not a Turkey. It's a Duck.
Fine DOF, nice eye clarity and sharp focus.
Excellent capture.

Excellent image nikman! I love the crisp clarity of this. The background makes this gobblers red pop! Perfect framing. Wonderful entry to this contest. Good luck!

I am not very familiar with domestic fowls but this looks more like a Muscovy duck to me. Despite your excellent camera work, I don't think this one will win any beauty contest.

Although turkey is eaten at Christmas not sure this would be a photo for a Christmas contest as such,as it is eaten at other times of the year, still its a good close-up none the less, although I would have left more space in front of it than behind...Brian

Sharpness & clarity is fantabulous!
Palpable facial features and varied textures!
It seems to pop out from the frame!

Pin sharp focusing.
Bright lighting.
Compact framing.
Nice earth tones both in plumage & monochromatic backdrop!

Nik,
I'm sorry to disagree with you but this is no Turkey.. it's a Muscovy Duck or drake ~ Cairina moschata. They develop wattles around their eyes & beaks older ones can look very bizarre as the wattles increase with age. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

I am no expert at all on ducks or turkeys! It looked like a turkey to me when I took its portrait and it still does!! Very many thanks for your interesting review.

That is a fine profile portrait of that turkey. The focus is sharp showing well defined details in the birds facial features and its feathering. The colors are vivid and natural. It is an excellent close up of the bird which should do well in the contest.
