Looks like your subject has stored up a lot of extra food/weight for this winter. Judging from its appearance, I am surmising that it either had a head start in terms of weight or you are in for a very cold and nasty winter. For your sake, I hope the squirrel just tends toward being overweight. That hope is for you and for me as you tend to send me your weather a day or two later. The photo is well done in every regard Grace. Your squirrel looks as though he is awaiting a treat from you.

Thank you for your nice comments! I keep hoping the winter won't be too horrible this year :)

Well he certainly is a chubby little fellow. Nicely posing for you with his paws resting on his belly.
Well seen, perfectly exposed and pin sharp.
I hope you gave him a nut or two for his trouble.

Lol, thank you very much for your nice comments and the six stars. He was guarding the female squirrel in the nest. He ran down the tree as I got close and blocked the entrance :)

A very good nature photo presented here! Your full and traditional composition grants us an enjoyable view of your lovely squirrel and its location. It and they are clearly quite clever little fellows! Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely done!

Lol, thanks Fred. Their weight actually serves a purpose. It's more about surviving the winter than just being overweight for the American squirrels :)

Grace
A beautiful picture of this rather plump Grey Squirrel bathed in sunshine watching you from it's perch above you. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

Thank you Sange! He is actually guarding his mate. She is in the hole behind him in the tree. As soon as I got close he ran down the tree and sat right in front of her. She ducked down and he blocked the nest and kept an eye on me - and then of course, he posed for me ;)
