This photo shows very well the intimidating spread of the eagle when he's in flight. The simple backdrop of the sky portrays harmony and tranquility of nature, with the predatory force of the eagle's flight. Seeing it from this angle is excellent, with the way you shot this photo diagonally capturing the eagle is great. The light and dark contrast come together perfectly. The symmetry of seeing the wings spread out is majestic to behold.

Superb and extremely rare capture Pat. It's nice to see your shutter speed was high enough to get this beautiful stop action of this majestic Eagle in flight with head tucked.
Fine clarity, great exposure and superb timing.
Excellent bird Photography Miss Alaska ;)

bald eagles are bad ass !! did you know when they mate they fly as high as they can then lock onto each other and free fall and the male has to finish before they hit the ground, pretty cool .. so getting a pic of one is awesome good job

Thanks so much! They don?t actually mate in the air, what you describe is a courtship behavior.

Alaskapat--Shame on you for not entering this magnificent photo in the Action Contest! This is not worthy of a rating of 6. This deserves a ten! Of the zillions of eagle photos I've seen in my life, NONE have shown a "fish in flight" like yours. Thanks for sharing! Do you have more of this winged hunter?

What a great catch! For you and the eagle :) Nice timing to get him checking out the fish while he's flying. I don't think I've ever seen an eagle curl his head so far under to take a look.

An incredible photo. Captured at just the right moment. Excellent framing and subject. Interesting not only is it looking at the fish but that huge wing span is well captured. Great photo. Thanks for sharing it.

Hey there again Pat! Another beautiful image of a majestic bald eagle. The motion of the flight is intriguing as the eagle makes sure its catch is still in tow. I love eagles and everything they stand for. Thanks for the share Pat.

What a flexible neck he has! Good timing. Good shot of the bird in flight! The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!

Quite an interesting nature shot posted here! Your fine and central composition grants us a good look at that rather curious in flight moment. Wonder why he need to look back? The wing display is very enjoyable. Sharpness and exposure are good. Nicely done!

A dramatic still motion capture showing fine features and textures.
Dynamic diagonal positioning.
Low vantage point enhance the visual language and power dynamics of this wildlife shot.
