Amazing! The sparrows are simple birds. I like to watch them how during the winter time they gather together to stay warmer and search for food. This shot is great! I like the position of the bird and a two little branches. I would called this "waiting for Spring". Soft tones and shadows in the deep snow give a cotton-look warm impression. But the brain tells it's winter and cold and not enough food for a little sparrow. I also remember the Bible werse that the sparrows don't have a lot of vallue, but God doesn't forget even one of them. Thanks for sharing Grace!!!

Thank you very much for your kind words Lucas! I thought the verse from the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew regarding sparrows was a comparison to the value of people, not that they are of little value themselves, just not as valuable as people and in spite of that they are fully provided for :) If I am thinking the same verse that you are!

What a cute little bird. I think I would be quite cold. The focus is good, the white of the snow is muted, and you got a great close-up! I was talking to my 5 year old granddaughter the other day about birds. She informed me that birds are furry. I tried to explain that the fur is really feathers, but I'm not sure I convinced her. One of these days she will discover that Grandma was pretty smart.

Very nice photo. I like the sparrow against the white snow. Focus and lighting well done. Great composition. Sharp details. All colors are natural. Well done.

There must be an interesting story behind how it was named a "tree sparrow" (like the one for "Iceland" and "Greenland") ;) Their coloring is prettier than the house sparrow.

I think it's because they reminded the European settlers here of the Eurasian Tree Sparrows. Even though these guys nest and forage on the ground, they breed in the treetops.

Quite a nice photo of a bird with a confusing name and behaviour. Your fine off-centre composition offers us an enjoyable view of it and it's wintery location. Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely done!

Cute little guy. Like the captured texture in the snow in lieu of the blank white too often shown. Do not like the lack of any sharpness in the subject.

Snow, snow and more snow which would melt quickly in our 40c plus. Gorgeous little sparrow with nice coloring against the snow. Nicely framed and like the little twigs sticking out.

Thank you! It's been raining all day here today. First it was freezing rain, now it's warmed up to 37f and is melting the snow!

Very nice capture of a tree Sparrow perched on a twig. Good focus, nice feather detail, good DoF, correct WB, well balanced and framed and nice catch light in the eye. Overall, a Very Nice Wildlife Photograph, well done!

A nicely composed shot in beautiful light. The exposure for the snow is excellent and the detail, as well of the color, in the plumage is outstanding.
