Brenda, this is so touching a tribute to all those living creatures that lost their live... and the people who also tried to save them who lost theirs.

wonderful visual that encapsulates the colors of the live fire and also the dead of all things in its wake.

very touching.

Hey Brenda! It is truly sad what has been happening in Australia, and though it is emotional you have showcased that emotion really well in this piece. The colors and details are gorgeous, which catch the viewers eye. The spirits of those animals have been really well drawn and show really nice attention to detail. Art is about emotion and you have done that so well here. Great work.

Thank you so much for your emotion understanding review. After reading a long article I was driven to stop what I was doing to do this.

This is a great tribute to the wild creatures that have lost their lives in these terrible wildfires! This is a very meaningful entry for the contest. Very well done!

A dramatic rendition of a horrible natural catastrophe devastating flora & fauna in Australia...

A timely creation with a social & environmental concern.

Nicely presented story telling factor.

Animals in soulful outlines like Phoenix rising from the fire...

A very special tribute for the wildlife which is suffering. On Kangaroo Island some bee hives have been wiped out and so many of the koalas and echidna.

Thank you for reviewing. I experienced the fires in Portugal last year and the devestation. Australia is in an unprecedented horror at this time. I had a urge to stop what I was doing to do this. I see you are from Adelaide. I hope you are not in a danger zone.. bees ?? They are so important to us. As is all life.
reply by Zilyram on 06-Jan-2020
We live in the suburbs near Adelaide so fortunately other than smoke not impacted. The bees in Kangaroo Island are the last known purest stock of Langurian Bees in the world so if they are lost it will be the end of that strain of bees.

The bee situation world wide had problems but for a whole strain to be put out is more than awful. You keep safe. Xx

Oh this one deserves to win something amazing like artwork of the year and get sold for millions. Having survived a few years of terrible fires and smoke in California myself I really appreciate this!

The poignant backstory behind this art work really magnifies this already awesome work. You did an excellent job with painting this along with using the other mediums, and this combination brought forth something great. I like how you combined the abstract elements with some realism too. The white outlines of the animals really makes me feel the weight of the emotions behind this art, and much sympathy for Australia's people and its wildlife. This is a very expressive artwork, with the silhouettes indicating life and death, not only of the specific animals, but also as archetypes, showing symbols of the creatures that perished. Great mixing techniques also with the watercolor. I really can't say enough good things about this one. Six stars a must for this art.

This is a great tribute to the wildlife of Australia amidst the devastation of the on going wildfires. I think that because of the uniqueness of Australias wildlife that there has been coverage on the animals affected, especially the koalas.Wildfires affect all the creatures existing within that ecosystem, but normally all you hear about is the effects on the people and their animals living in that area. With the wildfires here in the US,I often wonder how many wild animals have also lost their lives, not being able to out run or out fly the flames. It is so very sad. You have done a great job of depicting the devastation left by a fire, scorched earth, burnt, skeletal trees. the sky is aglow with the flames as they continue consuming everything in their path. Excellent decision to show the koala, kangaroo, and bird as spirits that had inhabited this once vibrant landscape. Very emotional and extremely thought provoking.
