Well done profile of this female blackbird. The focus is sharp and the details throughout the bird are well defined. I particularly like the glint in her eye. Colors, lighting and white balance all are spot on.

I like all kind of apples, crabapples too; good framing of the bird without obstruction, good eye contact but the focus is a bit too soft; nice natural colors;

Yes, the female bird is not showy. Perhaps she is safer from predators that way. I'd be interested in seeing a male if you can capture him. In a photo, that is. Then again, the cardinal is bright red and eats crabapples as well. So, he is camouflaged well in those trees. They eat sour cherries as well. This is a good entry for the contest. I see you are making good use of the contest money. :-). Good luck in this one. Thank you for sharing

Very well photographed female blackbird, well focused, the image is clear, exposure is well managed, colors and tones are natural. I love that pop of color brought by the crabapples, I see good detail in the feathers, face and beak, appreciate the clear eye. well composed and presented!
