if it was taken in Southern USA, particularly in Texas, it must be a carmine skimmer (Orthemis discolor);
good framing with outstanding sharp focus and details;

Nice clear capture, I like the position of the dragonfly with wings pointing upper left and lower right and the stick diagonally from lower right, beautiful purple body, shows good detail, , nice clear wings that sparkle. Well focused, clear image with good light management , colors and tones appear natural. Well composed and presented! Best wishes to you in this contest!
