Hi ArtistCarl

Wow! This is a stunning piece of work. Almost looks like a window - the earth and sky being so lifelike. I like the cintrast between deep blue and brown which calls to mind Westerns and cowboys in blue jeans on brown horses. Exceptional. R

Well thank you very much for your six star vote and your comments. I appreciate both. This one is hanging on a wall where the morning sun shines on it in our living room. Small shadows move across and within in the crevasses of the paint making it appear somehow real in a surreal kind of way. It is very pleasing to me to see it every day. I am also pleased that you see the "Wild West" in it also. Thank you.

An excellent work of art. I love your creativity and design. Great color depth texture and dimension. I love how you have shared your vision and explanation in your write up. An excellent candidate in the landmark contest. I wish you the best of luck.

Fantastic work Carl!
The sky is gorgeous with the puffy clouds and the way you created their shapes and textures giving them a 3D like look. The textures, colors, shades on the canyons are so real it's as if you can reach in and feel the smooth and rough edges.
Your end result was worth all your challenges.
Well done ;)

What can I comment on a work by a master painter? His explanation of the creation of this painting from a all size to a large size should be read by all students. This is a great looking painting done with expert hands and mind. I am standing and clapping!

Very nicely done. The depth of the painting is well done. Good use of colors for shading. I believe you accomplished the rugged look with your knife

You have outdone yourself, my friend. This is gorgeous. I can't even comprehend how to do something like this. I watch "Ross" and how easy he makes it look to create the way he does on a canvas. My medium is photography, but I know when I see something beautiful. I feel the ruggedness you were going for. You have made the Grand Canyon, grand.

There is a certain point in artwork that makes the effort so worth while once you overcome your perceived problems to get to your required satisfaction. Here you have attained that and there are certain aspects that stand out to me as exceptional and that is the plateau of rocks, mountainous terrain and the dark cracks of the canyon. The colours are superb. The sky I feel is a bit in argument with the rest. It's busy. The terrain is busy. In a module of single identity the sky is a wonderful aspect but I feel is a distraction from the terrain aspect and if not so strong and emotional it would make the terrain stand apart more. Having said that in reality beautifull scenery is also exposed to argumentive skies and that's nature. This completed canvas is a good example of this happening and displays a likeness to reality rather than imagination. Your technique is admirable and what patience you have. Have you followed Andrew Tischler.. he is a favourite of mine and his land and seascapes provide a lot of hints and tips. He also makes small starters and works from them He has a very good newsletter and is on You Tube. Your finished work and skills are both excellently shown here.
