I think you are a writer as much as a painter, and I have run a Writers Group, for many, many years now, so know what I am talking about! Heavy winter clouds, filled with more snows. I like the stripey effect of the mountains below in comparison to the wild abandon of the clouds in their blue heaven.

Thank you for your five star vote and your comments. I appreciate both. As for writing, thank you. I am not published except for a paper on the feasibility of drug treatment I co-authored that is buried somewhere in the Library of Congress. I spent a career writing disciplinary reports, prisoner evaluations, policies, procedures, program designs, contract proposals and program evaluations. When I retired I took joy in the fact I could return to painting. Have a pleasant and calm day. The amount of work you do I know it will be a busy one.

This is a wonderful work of art. An excellent contest entry. I liked reading how you created this beautiful painting. I love how you have concentrated on the ominous storm clouds and sky with the sun partially shown. The various blue hues are a wonderful mix. The snow covered mountains and landscape give your image depth. All the best in the contest!

You have captured the coldness of the moment well and made an interesting abstract for us to view. The color of the sky is lit by a the orb of the sun. Nice work.

What a beautiful sky! You did a fantastic job of blending all of the colors of blue to create such a vibrant picture. The hint of sunlight coming through is a great addition. Very well done!

A beautiful picture of the range of mountains, snow lying in the valleys under a stormy sky though which the sun is glowing. Beautiful composition created by your artist's eye for composition very skilful brush & palate knife work in the application of your colours in bringing this scene to life.

Your artwork is a clear indication that your "conversation" provided excellent guidance to your skills in recreating what you envisioned. This piece is very realistic and natural, and it sends a message of cold weather. The depth of the mountain range and its placement in the piece lead the eye into the scene. The sky also is realistic as cold, cloudy days tend to be heavy with a mix of layers and colors. Overall, well done.

It is a beautiful creation that does indeed speak cold in volumes;from the snow draped craggy mountains to the darkened, windswept clouds enrobing a frigid looking sun.One can almost feel the biting cold of the bitter wind as it whips across the inhospitable looking landscape. I especially like the depth and layering you have given the clouds. Excellent artists notes on your creation of this great piece,I find this a perfect entry for the contest and wish you all the best!

Strong visual impact: this immediately makes me think of being up in the Talkeetna Mountains , it's as if I am standing up very near the top of this range, the various blue tones along with the snow makes this a good entry for the contest as it looks cold, it always is when up this high. , well shaped and structured mountains and I appreciate that they slope down from the right to the left! The terrain is rugged and I see A few ponds that you have placed well in this scene, this is very realistic, it's a nice show of the light and shadows, the sky is warning of a storm . Well created, your notes are appreciated and although it's inspired by a different location, it looks like home to me! Well presented, best wishes to you in this contest!
