So much expression in just one eye! I appreciate the fine detail work in the feathers and beak of this unusual bird. Thanks for sharing, Alaskapat!

A very well focused photo of your feathered friend,he seems to have trained you quite well- lol! I should talk;I see the buck Bullseye out back and go running to take corn out for him!Just love the details and colors of his plumage and the great catch light in his bright eyed. The light on the tree branches behind him gives them a nice golden glow to contrast with his dark feathers.

Excellent capture, Pat, showing this beautiful Steller Jay waiting patiently on the branch of your Mountain Ash tree for the peanuts. I love the detail you can see in the feathers and also in the markings of the tree. Excellent lighting and focus. Great composition. Suzanne

do you see the expression in his face which I see, or am I so sickened of humanity I am transferring humanity to all animals. Last night I watched a film, quite a good film of a alien who appeared in an American town, and note they gave him eyes. As I paint I note eyes make the difference, the mirror of the souls, and note they give aliens eyes. As you know, I sometimes paint humans without eyes. My mum used to get a quizzical look like that when she got old and realised there was no escape from this island really /they brought them to work in the heavy industry here/ but the bird is instinctive, he knows you bring food and therefore must be a caring person. Beautiful blue colouring. I always wondered what Jay birds were like. I read terms and though I am pretty thorough, do not always follow them through.

Beautiful image of this Stellers Jay. The ambient light emanating from the right does a wonderful job in illuminating the feathers and adding color and detail.
It is easy to see that you have an audience that will 'Pose for peanuts' giving great opportunities for photographing them in just this way. Nice work Pat ~ Steve

This photo is remarkable. It is perfect focused and exposed and has just the right depth. The bird shows sharply refined detail at his body and plumage including the light reflection in its dark eye. The shallow background emphasizes the bird excellently. I appreciate the realism of color and light. The bird is superbly placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.
