That's an interesting point about the antenna, although it look like it's pointing up this time! I like how this photo has a diversity of textures, from the bottom with its root system intricacies, the bird's feathers, and the smooth ripples of the water in the background.

A wonderful nature image of this grey heron standing on the roots of a tree. I am not sure if this is moonlight or sunlight as the background is dark, however it is lovely and shows his fine feathers.
He has given you a good sideways pose. A pleasure to view Fred.

One of your very best bird photos! The colors and texture are excellent. I have photographed dozens of blue herons in the USA but none had an antenna feather like this one. Interesting!

If you are right about the directional feather, then the heron must be waiting for a flying fish to come by. (lol)I like the sharp focus and clear detail in the feathers. I also like the clarity run the heron's eye.
