Years ago I worked for a newspaper and the head photographer always told me that if I was unhappy with my shots to try to get closer. This shot is very good and shows both the bird and his dinner beautifully.

Peeping Tom...lolol..just teasing. The clarity is great. The capture of the light is good. The angle of the shot of this bird in water with mouth open is good. The image is balance and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and good job overall

Nice timing to capture this cormorant with the fish in Bill, I like your method of getting the shot, well focused, the image is clear, back lighting really shows his bill and the fish. I love the cormorant eye color! Well composed and presented!

Wow that's so awesome how you were able to get the timing right for this photo. It's cool to see the bird getting the fish like that, it's just so primitive, and almost symbolic in a way, archetypical, an animal hunting its prey with a rapid fire timing, with the whole prey entering its body. Reminds me of a dinosaur in the water doing the same exact thing to a larger fish. It's cool to see that here on a smaller scale. This is just the cycle of life, and I like how this photo reminds me of that.

He looks as though he is practicing for a opera concert! You have timed it well. The colours and the light and shadows have worked well. Thanks for sharing!

Well captures stop action of the cormorant about to ingest its catch. The back lighting of the bird aids in highlighting the head and its catch very well. I particularly like the light in the cormorants eye. Focus, clarity, contrast and white balance are well managed.

Fred,
A very beautiful stop action picture of the Cormorant breaking the surface with a fish in it's beak just before it swallows it whole a sunbeam highlighting it's head, neck & the fish. The rippled water it's swimming it reflecting the sky above & a red brick building on the bank it's image broken by the ripples. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Clever boy! You are clearly mastering nature out there judging by this nice shot!! Your fine composition captures a good action moment. Like that gaping beak and colours. Sharpness and exposure are good. Nicely done!
