Very cool shot of this cormorant! That would be super cute and awesome if it was a tongue.
The disturbed reflection of the sky in the water is soothing. Great focus and framing as well

A bit out of the box photograph here with just a neck and head appearing out of the water.. we see shots of The Lockness Monster similar to this. I think it could be a large water worm.. they get everywhere. Your focus and exposure are very good and capture all close details and natural colouring. I particularly like that orange glow on the water. It gives a bit of an artistic edge that works wonderfully especially when it reaches the bluey ripples left. Over all a very interesting and well taken shot.

I like the artistic aspects of the photo: you have the dominant horizontal motion set by the water ripples and their abundant number going across the entire photo, and the disruption in that pattern with the bird's neck sticking out of the water to create that vertical effect. I think that looks great that way, with these two simple elements giving this photograph a very solid appearance. I also like how the orange and small amount of blues coming from the left complement each other, so we see a good vibrancy in the water.

Have not seen a cormorants tongue but perhaps a bit of weed was attached to the fish it had caught. Love the lighting on the water and your composition showing the long neck nicely.

A great shot. I have no idea what he caught but the way he rides so low in the water explains why they have to haul out and spread their wings to dry. A finely detailed image with great colors.

Nice sharp focus of the cormorant. The lighting and white balance are very well done showing clear details of the bird and its capture. Colors and tones also are very well managed providing excellent contrast. Wonder what that mystery prey is!!!

Fred,
A beautiful profile of this cormorant with the tail of the fish it's just caught hanging over it's beak the sunbeam highlighting it's head golden beak & the Fish or worm then adding a golden hue to the lake's rippled surface giving the Cormorant a beautiful backdrop. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

    merci Suzanne:
not only the tail: about 80% of the whole fish

Interesting picture. May be it is some floating matter thrown by some human! Nice timing. Good framing. Overall this is due catching! Thanks for sharing!

many thanks again; cormorants eat fish, not garbage!
